Apple Festival Information
Georgia's Apple Capital
Widely known for its apples, there are some 18 apple orchards in Gilmer County producing 600,000 bushels of apples, 25 different varieties, each year. Eleven of the orchards are found in the picturesque valley, Apple Orchard Alley, along Highway 52 East. Sixty percent of the apple trees in Georgia are in Gilmer County. Apple Houses sell apples and related food products as well as fried apple pies, apple cider and homemade apple butter. The main varieties include:
